Biography
Jennifer Blackburn was born in Baltimore, Maryland. She is the oldest of three sisters. The daughter of a mother who served as chief people coordinator of three busy girls as her father’s corporate career gave the family opportunities to live in the Upstate NY snow belt, Wyckoff, NJ, South Florida, and several stops in between.
Jennifer graduated from Ramapo High School in Franklin Lakes, NJ. She earned her degree in English and Writing from Ithaca College in New York State. She spent time studying abroad in London, England where she fell in love with history and art.
Fresh-faced and newly graduated, Jennifer hit NYC intending to start a career in publishing with the dream of writing her own stories. Fate changed her direction, and she found herself launched into the retail-merchandising world as a buyer for a growing Georgetown clothing chain. After years of learning design and specs for a lifestyle brand, Jennifer left fashion retail to start her own successful business in the decorative arts. Her intuitive client approach and discerning eye earned her a following in the metro Washington DC area.
A life-long learner and information junkie, Jennifer continued to hone her writing skills while raising two children as a single mom and shifting career direction to work for a Fortune Eight company as a mid-level manager. Jennifer and her husband Jeff live in Richmond, Virginia, and Sarasota, Florida. They share six children who are beginning their new chapters as fabulous adults. The [New] New Patriotism is Jennifer’s first book. A timely subject in need of a perspective from an "every person" rather than those in positions of power.
